Jim Robertson
After graduating from Flowing Wells High School, Jim attended Brigham Young University on a National Merit Scholarship. He was awarded The Barry Goldwater Scholarship during his freshman year and graduated in 1993 with a B.S. in Physics.
Jim attended J. Rueben Clark Law School at BYU and graduated in 1996. He began work as a legal technology consultant for Lexis-Nexis. With increasing levels of responsibility, Jim eventually became the Manager of the HotDocs Professional Services and Training team. His focus was assisting law firms and corporate law departments with streamlining their transaction related (e.g. real estate, reoccurring consumer contracts, and other documents that vary but are produced frequently) legal services. He worked with top attorneys at AIG, General Electric, New York Attorney General, Queens County District Attorney, Wells Fargo, Bank One, and AMJUR 100 law firms to capture the legal reasoning behind the inclusion of terms and conditions in documents and codified that to produce the documents more quickly. As manager of a Six-Sigma team, one project saw the production time drop 90% (with billable attorney time reduced by 83%) resulting in the document production taking 2 hours and 47 minutes (instead of over 3 days) in a highly competitive, legally complex bidding and acceptance document resulting in a substantial increase in acquired projects.
In 2003, Jim moved to Florida to join a small legal technology company as Vice-President, Professional Services and Tech Support. From 2005-2009, Jim shifted his transactional expertise from technology to managing real estate transactions as Director of Closings for a general contractor, Acquisitions Project Manager for an apartment management company, and Executive Consultant for a timeshare company.
Jim completed the shift to traditional legal work in 2010 when he joined Roberts Law Group, PA overseeing their timeshare group. His group helps consumers with their timeshare ownership and advises secondary market companies on regulatory compliance, contracting, and title/closing related issues. In 2014, Jim purchased the firm and renamed it Robertson Law Associates. He is admitted to practice law in Arizona, Florida, and South Carolina.
Clients benefit from his 18 years of combined business and legal experience that help him provided empathetic advice which shows an understanding of the real world issues they face and the complexities of the relationships among businesses, customers, suppliers and vendors.
Jim has volunteered throughout his career serving as President of a homeowners association, as secretary/treasurer for the Orlando Stake responsible for 9 congregations in central Florida, and currently serves as a Scout District Commissioner. Jim is an Eagle Scout. Jim and his beautiful wife, Debbie, have five children (three boys and two girls) between eight and 19 years of age.
